What a wonderful experience — I will absolutely book another tour with Darla and Darren of Imagine Travel Tours!
We spent two weeks with them in France and Spain. I was so impressed with the selection and variety of accommodations, the introduction to new people, new foods, and a new look at some very old architecture. Darren and Darla have found so many places that are typically not available to a large tour. We found the trip to be tailored to our needs with encouragement to try new things.
In those two weeks we visited so many interesting and historical places in France and even spent time in San Sebastian, Spain. After seeing an incredible chateaux we then spent the night in a beautiful castle in the Loire Valley. We had a great time at Chateau Chenonceau, one of the most beautiful in all the Loire Valley. We spent the night in a marvelous old stone hotel on Mt. St. Michel. We stayed right across from Omaha Beach in Normandy. We walked several of the D-Day beaches, and visited both the American Cemetery and the German Ossuary (were you even aware there was such a thing?). While we were in Normandy, we spent the night in another small castle with Nazi tunnels that are not available to the general public near Deauville.
Then it was on to Paris. Well, what can we say? Darren and Darla have scoped out so many places an ordinary tourist might not even imagine.
The two weeks somehow included resting time in the French countryside and gourmet meals produced from local markets. I will never forget the wonderful market in Sarlat.
This trip was made so special, just for us, because of the time and effort Darla and Darren obviously put into research and organization. They were also so very aware of our wants and needs on this journey. I had been wanting to see these places for more than 30 years — they provided so much more than just checking off particular sights and events.
Yes! I will very definitely take another tour with Darla, Darren, and Imagine Travel Tours. (I’m really looking forward to Italy!)
