Your  Tour to Provence!

Summer in Provence,

…oh the books that have been written about this beautiful place; the smells, the tastes, the warm sun on your arms as you sit sipping fabulous Cote du Provence Rose in the heat of summer, waiting for the lavender to POP. The amazing aroma of lavender and wonderous smells throughout the valleys are incredible .  To find the TRUE lavande, the highest quality, organic lavender, you must climb to the top of the mountain located in Sault near Mont Ventoux.

We will take you to these areas, ensuring the best photo ops along the way. The rolling fields and rows of fabulous mounds of purple, is why you are here.

But first!  There is so much to see in Provence. We can’t let you come without starting out or ending your journey discovering the beautiful Provencial lifestyle.

Fabulous towns full of history and sites.

Day 1 – Arrive

We will start in Avignon picking you up at the train station and staying the night in the beautiful town that was home to the Popes, seven to be exact.  Now the capital of the Vaucluse department and the home to the city which has still has its ramparts.

The historic centre includes the Palais des PapesThe cathedral, and the Pont d’Avignon, which became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1995.

Day 2 –

As we travel towards the Lavender, we will stop off at the fabulous market town of St. Remy de Provence full of old Roman ruins and a wonderful, idyllic town, exactly what you expect of Provence.  Its clean and beautiful and you will love its market winding thru the town streets.  Where Van Gogh spent many years painting while in psychiatric exile, the Starry Nights is one of the famous paintings to come from his stay here.  Home to Nostradamus.

Moving thru the valley we stay in the beautiful town of L’isle Sur la Sorgue on the river and renowned for its antiques and quaint walking village.  Stroll along the river, eating fabulous ice cream and finding a treasure in the many antique shops.

Day 3 –

Moving along the valley into Roussillon, one of the most amazing RED villages you’ve ever seen.  Situated in the heart of one of the biggest ochre deposits in the world, Roussillon is famous for its magnificent red cliffs and ochre quarries.  The red, yellow and brown shades of the earth form a striking contrast with the lush green pine trees. The vivid blue of the Provençal sky and the exceptional quality of light make this a magical site.

Day 4 –

Gourdes, climbing out of the valley and into the hills, a very well-known hilltop villages in the region, and one of the most beautiful in France. Its houses and buildings of white stone root themselves into the sharp cliff of the mountain, allowing us to stop and take in the panoramic valley we just climbed up from.  Views are amazing and you will love exploring this fabulous tiny town.  Sipping Rose at sunset is exactly what you think of summer in the South of France.

As we continue climbing the hills of Provence, we will take back roads and back ways into the hidden pockets of Lavender, looking for those fabulous photographic spots you are wanting to take those special photos.  Stopping whenever you like and hopping out for those perfect Instagram moments.

Day 5 –

Reaching Sault, the town that celebrates once a year, the prized position of the town with the best lavender in Provence.  We will explore and visit a wonderful, organic lavender processing company, taking those wonderful flowers and making them into the essential oils you love to buy.

Its a heady sense of aroma, and wonderful gifts to purchase.  Pressed Lavender, sachets, oils, and cleaning lavender its all here for you, and this is why you came.

Day 6 –

The town of Fontaine de Vaucluse was built up around its spring in a valley at the foot of a cliff of the Monts de Vaucluse. In fact, it gave its name to the department of the Vaucluse.  You can stroll around in the coolness coming from the spring, admire the old ruins and small historic monuments.  Stretching your legs in nature and stopping for an ice cream or aperitif.

Day 7

Back to Avignon and spend more time in the City of Popes or back to the TGV train to go back to Paris, we bid adieu and hope you have had the fabulous summer in France you’ve always imagined
